10 Seriously Cool Benefits of Yoga

Yoga is an ancient practice with a host of benefits for your health. Yoga is excellent for your mind, body and soul. Often when I have been jogging regularly or pushing myself with my workouts, I notice my muscles and joints, specifically my back and hips require the nourishment of my yoga practice.

What Is Yoga

Yoga offers a multi-dimensional practice because during a regular yoga class you practice movement, breath awareness, breathing exercises, relaxation, concentration, self-inquiry and meditation. Yoga is also an approach to life-based on balance and harmony. With regular practice, your mind will quieten and relish in the enjoyment of living in the moment. Living in the moment is like giving your brain a break. A beneficial state of mind to get into for all of us.

“Yoga is multifaceted like a diamond!

It means different things to everyone.

For some, it is merely a system of physical exercise, weight management or stress relief.

For others, it is a spiritual path, and for some, it is merely a way of life!”

If you have tried yoga and you feel it is not for you, I encourage you to try another style until you find a form of yoga which suits you and your health goals.

What Are The Key Differences Between Yoga And Pilates

You may have practised Pilates and prefer that style of exercise. Both yoga and pilates are popular. The critical difference between yoga and pilates is that Pilates focuses more on core strength without the chanting and ‘oming’. Yoga offers more of a holistic practise focusing on improving the power and flexibility of all your muscles in your body. Balance, endurance, strength, spirituality, relaxing and dynamic movements will give you an all over nourishment for your mind, body and soul.

Benefits Of Pilates

Evidence suggests that pilates may be helpful for many conditions including back pain, joint injuries, arthritis, and urinary incontinence. Pilates may also help with increasing muscle strength and improving flexibility, balance and posture.
