Mindfulness, Nootropics, and Your Brain Health

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is being fully aware of the present moment. You aren’t worrying about what might happen in the future, and you aren’t harping on things that happened five years ago. You are right here, right now. Mindfulness is not the same thing as meditation; rather, meditation helps to build your skill in mindfulness.

The benefits of meditation and mindfulness training include a decrease in anxiety, stress, and cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure and cholesterol.

How to Build Mindfulness

You can begin to improve your level of mindfulness by practicing meditation each day. If you’ve never done it before, start small. Sit on a pillow or chair in a quiet room with your eyes closed. Focus on your breathing and count your breaths up until you reach 10 then begin again at one. Try this for five minutes in the morning, or whenever you feel stressed. Eventually add more time by 5-minute intervals, or whatever works for you.

What Are Nootropics?

Often referred to as brain boosting supplements, nootropics are ingredients that have been shown to have a positive effect on focus, attention, alertness, and overall brain health. You can use nootropics to enhance your learning ability while protecting your brain from age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s or dementia.
