Top 5 Ways to Lean Out for Beach Season
Summer is approaching fast, and you know what that means: beach season! If you’re like most people, you started a weight loss and fitness journey several months ago, and you’re getting near the finish line. If you want to drop those last few pounds, and get lean for pool parties and the beach, there are 5 proven ways that may help you. Let’s take a look at the top 5 ways to lean out before summer arrives.
Crank Up Workout Intensity
When is the last time you switched up your workout? Higher intensity, shorter duration workouts have been shown to be effective at burning more calories and more overall adipose tissue.
Limit (or Eliminate) Alcohol
It’s just one drink, how bad could it be for your weight loss? Alcohol is packed with empty calories, meaning it doesn’t provide nutrition. Drink enough, and your body will begin to store these calories as fat. Think about your drink of choice, and take a look at the average amount of calories per beverage:
- One can of beer: 154 calories
- One shot of liquor (depends on the proof): Around 100 calories
- (Add a chaser such as soda, and you will easily get another 150 to 200 calories)
- 6 ounces of red wine: 150 calories
How many drinks do you have each night? Having just 2 drinks can provide an additional 300+ empty calories. You don’t have to give up your weekend plans, but be aware that this could be stopping you from getting that lean body. Try to limit your consumption to 1 drink, once or twice per week.
Be More Active
You don’t have to exercise in the gym for an extra hour every day, but if you make small efforts to be more active overall, the calories burned can quickly add up. The idea is to move around more, and you can easily do this throughout your day. Here are some easy-to-do examples:
- Park in the last spot from the store
- Take the stairs
- Bike or walk to work instead of driving
- Stand while working or watching television
- Make an effort to tidy up your living area every day
Use Proven Supplements
Visit the Sauna
You’re so close to achieving your goal and getting leaner, why not treat yourself to a sauna day and make it a productive time to relax. Consistent sauna usage has been shown to promote short term water weight loss, long term weight management, and longevity.
